About The Roundabout

The Roundabout is a fortnightly satirical publication scrutinising EU affairs from Brussels.

It reports what actually happened, as distinct from what the relevant institutions said happened, what their spokespeople indicated had occurred, what the impact assessments projected would occur pending further consultations, and what, in several cases, the institutions concerned subsequently denied having said at all.

It publishes every two weeks. It is written in English. It does not use the word "stakeholder" without audible irony. It does not describe a Commissioner's lunch as a working meal, a conflict of interest as a prior professional relationship, or a delayed regulation as being in the final stages of the legislative process.

The Roundabout was founded by Commissioner Aristidis Myrmidon (retired, DG BUDG), following ninety minutes in Briefing Room B of the Berlaymont on the fourteenth of July last, during which he formed certain views. He left before the final slide. It is published through the offices of Madame Oksana Graticula, his Personal Assistant, who handles all correspondence and has done so since 2004.

The Commissioner is available for comment but is currently in consultations.

Stories, tips, and information that the relevant institutions would prefer remained unpublished may be sent to the address below. (The Roundabout is particularly interested in documents that have been misfiled, accidentally forwarded, or left on a printer in the press room of the Berlaymont.) Sources are protected absolutely and without exception.
