Sir,

Your founding statement, which I read with considerable interest and moderate approval, contains a factual error that I feel compelled to bring to your attention, as someone who was present at the briefing in question in a capacity I am not at liberty to disclose.

The duration of the briefing in Briefing Room B of the Berlaymont on the fourteenth of July was not, as you state, ninety minutes. It was ninety-one minutes. I have the agenda. I also have the sign-in sheet, which records the departure time of at least one senior retired official at minute eighty-seven, though I will not speculate as to his identity.

I would further note that the visual aids did not consist solely of a timeline. There was also a pie chart. The pie chart was not referred to during the briefing. Its purpose remains unclear.

I trust you will issue a correction in your next issue. I have taken the liberty of copying this letter to the relevant directorate-general, which I am confident will file it appropriately.
